INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ONE HEALTH
Advancing Global Health Through Integrated Approaches

ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL ONE HEALTH SYMPOSIUM

One Health is an integrated approach that recognizes the interconnection between the health of people, animals, plants, and their shared environment. For India, this approach is particularly vital given the country’s dense population, extensive agriculture, and close human-animal interactions. India faces heightened vulnerability to zoonotic diseases like Nipah virus and avian influenza, while its diverse ecosystems from the Western Ghats to the Himalayas create complex wildlife-livestock-human interfaces. The country also confronts interconnected challenges including urban air pollution, widespread antimicrobial resistance in clinical and agricultural settings, and climate-related health impacts from monsoon variability. One Health, which represents a collaborative, multisectoral, and transdisciplinary approach, works at local, regional, national, and global levels to achieve optimal health outcomes. In an era of emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, food insecurity, and climate change, the One Health approach has never been more critical for safeguarding global health and promoting sustainable development.

This International Symposium provides the platform for aspiring learners and experts of One Health to connect with each other, integrate best practices, gain insights from knowledge, innovations and multi-disciplinary frameworks.
