National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) provides a suitable platform to conceive and implement a quality framework to implement quality initiatives, quality sustenance measure and quality improvement on continuous basis. The quest to adopt institute-wide quality assurance system was mooted in KCT as soon as the autonomy was conferred as a self-governing process, to innovate and offer best of the services possible to the students and society. KCT was granted Five Year Accreditation status in its first cycle of accreditation. Later, in the second cycle, with a CGPA of 3.21 on 4.0 scale, A Grade was awarded which was valid till 02 December 2021. In July 2022, following the NAAC Peer Team visit for third cycle of accreditation, KCT has been awarded A++ Grade, the highest grade awarded to institutions by NAAC with KCT securing a CGPA of 3.62 on a 4 – point scale.


National Board of Accreditation was established in 1994, to assess qualitative competence of the programs offered by a technical educational institution. As an early adopter, KCT went ahead and implemented quality assurance systems to match the needs of that national initiative. The first set of Programme Accreditation was received in the year 2000 for BE – Civil, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, and Mechanical Engineering. Since then, NBA accreditation status is maintained in various programmes and, as on 01 July 2020 more than 50% of programmes offered in KCT are accredited under Tier I of Washington Accord.


National Institutional Ranking Framework was launched by Ministry of Human Resource Development on 29 September 2015. The ranking parameters cover (i) Teaching, Learning and Resources, (ii) Research and Professional Practices, (iii) Graduation Outcomes, (iv) Outreach and Inclusivity, and (v) Perception. KCT is one of the 9 Institutions from Tamil Nadu to appear consistently in Top 100 Institutions including IIT, NIT and Deemed Universities. Every year KCT has been able to improve scores under the categories Teaching-Learning and Resources, Research, Professional Practices and thereby Total Score also. In the NIRF 2020 Ranking, KCT secured 82nd Position with under the Engineering Category and committed to participate in the forthcoming years also.
