The Department of Civil Engineering, an Anna University approved Research Centre, is engaged in cutting-edge research related to the complex challenges faced by the world today in terms of Solid, Liquid and E-Waste Management, Energy, Smart and Sustainable Construction. The vibrant research culture at the department has resulted in winning a number of research grants from premier funding agencies and is constantly engaged in collaborative research practices with top-notch institutions across the globe as well as leading industries. Some of the thrust areas of research include Aseismic design, study on sustainable construction materials, fibre reinforced concrete, soil structure interaction, Smart City, Water and wastewater quality monitoring and treatment technologies (Nano-particle synthesis), Energy conversion and product recovery under Solid waste management, Development of adsorbents from unused Agricultural/Industrial by products, Indoor air quality monitoring, Self Compacting Concrete, Light-weight Concrete, Fibre Reinforced Concrete, Plastic Roads, E-waste Management, Heavy metal pollution on Soil,Air pollution using machine learning,Climate changes ,Waste water treatment and Modelling techniques, Stabilized and fiber reinforced fly ash, Stabilized red mud, Earthquake Engineering, Fibre Reinforced Concrete, Alternate materials for concrete and Precast concrete.
